Description: Stereoview photograph of a street and buildings in a small city, circa 1860s. The untitled and unidentified view shows a broad city street lined on either side by three and four story buildings and a large church. A sign on the brick building in the right foreground reads Leather Dealer, but there are no helpful clues to identify the location. I don’t see any of the old wood frame buildings you’d expect to see in a New England city. These brick buildings remind me of the mid Atlantic region and cities like Philadelphia and Baltimore. The stereoview is in good condition with light wear and soiling. Note the light rubbing at the square corners of the mount, as well as the staining on the white colored reverse. The photographs exhibit good or better tonal range. Nice early street scene image!
