Description: These three vintage reproductions are printed on sturdy matte paper. The two works by Myrna Baez and one work by Luis Cajiga were created, its believed, sometime in the 1970's. They're "estampas" of life in Puerto Rico in the mid 1940-50's. In "Barrio Tokio," Baez recreates a dilapidated wooden home on stilts in the poor neighborhood of Barriada Tokio located on the fringes of what is now the wealthy business and banking district of Hato Rey. "Helado de Coco," also by Baez, depicts an old man selling coconut-flavored ices to a boy. "La Vega de Humacao" by Luis Cajiga shows sun-bleached wooden homes in the coastal town of Humacao, Puerto Rico. All the prints are in very good condition, no stains, tears or spots. The lower left corner of the Barrio Tokio has a few fold spots (See photos). The prints are signed on the plate by the artists (see photos), have never been framed or exhibited and are sold as a set. ARTISTS: Myrna Baez was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico in 1931 and died in 2018. A painter, printmaker and teacher, her works are in the Smithsonian Institute, New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museo del Barrio in NY. Luis Cajiga, born in Quebradillas, Puerto Rico in 1934, is an acclaimed painter and printmaker. (P218/B14) PLEASE ask questions before we ship in a sturdy carboard box.
