Description: William was the son of Harvey & Seaborn Mosley of Lincoln Co. Georgia. He trained as a physician, married Louise Fleming, the daughter of planter Francis Farrar Fleming of the same county. In the Civil War William was serving in Barnwell's Battery Light Artillery stationed outside Savannah in various camps where he was a surgeon. He tried to buy his way out the army in exchange for supplying crops. He was still on duty in Jan. 1865.. The book consists of some form of copying the letters he wrote home to his wife, obviously with a great deal of military commentary. There is a 4 page introduction written by Lucy Hamilton Howard in May, 1961. In front hand written "In appreciation of Jeanne Walker Howard whose love and keen interest in family history and her dedication to the task has preserved for future generations the letters of Dr William A. Mosley to his wife, Louisa Fleming Mosley. This is a volume to be prized." I assume Lucy wrote this. The Mosley letters are today in the Georgia Archives Manuscript Collection. Obviously this was a very limited printing, probably only for family & close friends.
