Description: Up for sale is a hardcover copy of Mr. Gladstone's Washi: A Survey of Reports on the Manufacture of Paper in Japan which includes facsimiles of the Parkes Report of 1871 and the Kamisuki Chohoki. The book measures just over 11" X 8.5" and was published by Bird & Bull Press in 1984; it is #301 in an edition of 500 copies. Also included with the book is a portfolio of 19 11" X 8" reproductions of the Parkes Report Watercolours (these are the same images in the book). The book itself is in attractive shape with minor overall edge and corner wear. The hinges are tight and the binding is sturdy; the interior pages are clean & unmarked. The slipcase is still structurally sound, but it is somewhat dinged up around the edges and corners with some uneven fading/tanning and some scattered stains. Please be sure to fully enlarge the provided photos, and feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.
