Description: A superb and rare photo of the abandoned remains of what once was Moto Guzzi ‘s multiple world championship winning, Grand Prix winning, world record breaking collection of racing machines, racing engines, and special (prototype) parts… A magnificent collection that would be unobtainable and unaffordable today! The photo was taken in 1963, in a leaking shed in the town of Abbadia Lariana, close to the hometown of Moto Guzzi, Mandello del Lario in Northern Italy. Shown are a number of the extreme lightly build Moto Guzzi Bialbero (= d.o.h.c.) singles. With their superb streamlining won the 350cc world championship 5 times between 1953 and 1957. They were designed by the famous ing. Giulio Carcano and Umberto Todero. The delivered a healthy power output of 38 hp at 8,000 rpm. Topspeed was 150 mph! They were very special motorcycles, designed by somebody that is considered a genius. The 250 Bialbero weighed 269 pounds (122 kg) and could reach a top speed of 125 mph (200 kmph). In between them a Moto Guzzi Dondolino , the famous 500cc production racer that won many long distance racing events in Italy and abroad. Also visible behind the Bialbero’s are a number of world recordbreakers from the late 1940s and 1950s (250 Compressors), next to a number of ISDT trail bikes, with which Guzzi won a number of International Six Days trials in the 1950s and 1960s. This image is amazing in all aspects. This is your rare chance to own this non period photo that reflects a very interesting and historic piece of Moto Guzzi’s history. Therefore it is printed in a nice large format of ca. 8" x 10" (ca. 20 x 25 cm). We have more photos listed on Ebay, also motorcycle (racing) and car (racing) photos!
