This beautiful statue is 13 in tall, 7 in across and 7 in deep. It was created in "durastone" by Austin Productions of NY, New York, whose goal was the reproduction of Renaissance, Egyptian, and other classical works of art. It was created in 1968, and is in amazing condition. In fact this is the best one I've seen. Nothing broken, everything intact, no scratches, no chips. Moses is depicted seated, holding the Ten commandments in his right hand, and I'm just going to say he's scratching his belly with his left. Michelangelo had a great sense of humor after all. You may wonder why, in many classical works of art, Moses is depicted with horns. It comes down to a simple error in translation. Jerome was translating the Old Testament from Hebrew to Latin, and there was no word for "ray of light", and it said Moses' face was "like a ray of light". Jerome thought about the shape of a ray of light as conical, which translated into "horned", and before you know it we have centuries of Moses with horns on his head. (Keep in mind that Satan was not thought of as horned at this time.) In order to ship this item, I will double box it.
