Description: Here is a set of 2 antique hardcover books titled Montcalm and Wolfe, Volume I & Volume II, France and England in North America, A Series of Historical Narratives. The books were written by Francis Parkman and published in 1884 by Little, Brown, And Company, Boston, U.S.A. The volumes are 513 and 502 pages in length respectively, and each measure about 5.9 inches wide, 8.4 inches long and 1.3 inches thick. "The names on the title page stand as representative of the two nations whose final contest for the control of North America is the subject of the book." The two volumes collectively contain 33 chapters which cover such topics as 1745-1755 The Combatants. 1749-1753 Conflict for the West, 1710-1754 Conflict for Acadia, 1753-1754 Washington, 1755 Braddock, 1755-1763 Removal of the Acadians, 1758 Louisbourg, 1758, 1759 The Brink of Ruin, 1759 Wolfe at Quebec, 1759 The Heights of Abraham, 1760 The Fall of Canada - and more. Black and white illustrative plates are included with the text. Condition: The volumes are in good condition. There is minor to moderate soiling to the covers with the top and bottom spine softened and frayed and corners worn. There is minor soiling to the outside of the page ends and endpapers. There are small stickers attached to the front endpaper of each book. There are small tears at the string binding sights of the endpapers at the front and back of the books. The pages are lightly tanned in colour with light brown spotting to a few of the pages at the front of each book. The binding is cracked at page 208 of Vol I. An occasional small soil mark is noted on some of the pages though overall, the pages are clean and intact.
