Description: This unique Native American basket, measuring 9.5 inches, is a beautiful and rare piece of history. Its exact provenance is unknown, adding to its intrigue and mystique. The basket was likely made by Modoc or Klamath artisans in the United States and has been passed down through generations. The craftsmanship of this handmade basket is stunning, showcasing the skill and artistry of Native American culture. It is a wonderful addition to any collection, and its age and origin make it a truly special piece. There is one tear along the rim of the basket which I have photographed from several angles. The basket was most likely used in the MODOC/KLAMATH Household for food storage or serving. The pattern on this is one that would have been made for personal use. The basket bowl is a fairly large example measuring 9 inches across the top. The bowl is somewhat misshapen from years of use, (as are most baskets from this region) but an excellent example of basketry design from the western side of Southern Oregon and Northern California.
