Description: Back in the 1970s I met a guy who created a special TRI-MOBIUS transforming hat named after the well-known the one-sided piece of paper. Magicians will recognize this as some sort of Himber/Gag Bag idea ... on steroids. To my knowledge there were only two of these hats. He made one for himself and another to sell. I have never regretted my decision to win that magical auction. The hat became part of my regular routine for kids and adults, birthday parties and church dinners. It was fun to see people's reactions. NOTICE THAT I AM OFFERING FREE SHIPPING Now I am retired and although I still have fond memories of this one-of-a-kind wonder, it is time to pass this on to a different lucky performer/collector. The patter that I developed through many performances adds a lot of entertainment value. As you ponder how much a $50 item in -- let's say 1977 -- would be in modern dollars, let me share some details. The triangular cone-shaped Sorcerer's Hat is too floppy ... unless you want to use it as a nightcap next to ma in her kerchief. So I contrived to wear a plumber's helper underneath, setting the hat in place before going on stage. I guess you all recognize this kind of hat ... the kind Mickey Mouse wore in "The Sorcerer's Apprentice"... but you probably also remember that he got into a lot of trouble wearing that magical hat ... so I will take it off now just to be safe. When I pull the hat off the plunger pole, the audience reacts with amusement. I pause, and then ask "Well, you didn't think that was the shape of my head, did you?" This is a special kind of hat -- it has three corners, three edges, and even three sides:. Right now, the OUTSIDE is on the outside and the INSIDE is on the inside. Stars and moon on the outside with more stars on the inside. And If I turn it inside out ... the OUTSIDE is on the inside and the INSIDE is on the OUT-SIDE. And I am not trying to fool you ... you probably got a peek at the HIDDEN side, didn't you? Yeah, I can pull the HIDDEN side to the OUTSIDE so that the INSIDE is back on the INSIDE ... I have no Idea where the original OUTSIDE has gotten to .... !!! So you see, now this is not a Sorcerer's Hat ... it is sort of a flag ... with the STRIPEY side on the outside and the STARRY side on the inside. Did you see the green side? It is hiding back here --- I call it the PRETTY side ... with the RAINBOW on twhe outside and the stripes hiding inside. The stars? ho knows? ---(interlude) By the way, did you ever wonder what the back side of a rainbow looks like? [Here you are holding the rainbow horizontally with the pot of gold on the right. Now rotate so that they see the other side with the pot of gold on the left]. There it is: the back side of a rainbow ... prettier than the back side of water, right? OK, I have shown the OUTSIDE and the INSIDE, and the BACK SIDE, and you see the PRETTY SIDE on the out-side. But you haven't seen the "EMPTY" side -- let me show you .... yeah I call this the EMPTY SIDE because the rainbow has lost its pot of gold. And speaking of rainbows and pots of gold, I should tell you that this is really a LEPRECHAUN'S HAT ... with real shamrocks. [Turn things inside out to show the sham-rocks >> not real rocks, mind you, but incredibly realistic simulations of rocks -- sham-rocks, get it? << now fold some of the hat brim inside itself so that it fits on your head ... try to poof/blow the tassle as it hangs down like a floppy nightcap ... and maybe put on the plumber's helper to hold the Leprechaun Hat erect vertically ... ... and as you put it all away you can say, but since I am not a Leprechaun, I won't wear this hat either. At which point you move on to your next trick (which might involve a magician's top hat, right?). Notice that the patter helps cover the fact that in some orientations the item seems a bit floppy, revealing the "next" side too soon. Don't treat this as a defect -- take advantage of these minor flaws. This item was fully hand-painted by the creator. He owns one, I own the other ... and it can be yours as a unique addition to your magical collection and/or performances. BTW $50 in 1980 translates to over three times as much in today's wimpy dollars. Use your own plumber's helper and elastic strap. But as I say, I am eager to get this hat into the hands of one eager leprechaun. >> 6-20-2024 9x5 << 11-30 -2024 4x6 stored m room
