Mixed LOT of OLD TURKMEN TRIBAL JEWELRY - Turkoman Handcrafted Collectible #4547

Description: Listing includes all jewelry as shown. All pieces in this remarkable lot of old Turkmen (Turkoman) tribal-jewellery were handcrafted for the Ersari sub-tribe during the early and mid-1900's in Turkmenistan, Central Asia. They are all vintage, collectible tribal-jewelry, not new reproductions. This lot includes:---> 1 extra-large square gonjik pendant with long bell dangles. Gilding highlights geometric designs, while lots of red beads ward off the evil eye. The upper border has a decorative open-fretwork design that looks to have been reduced. Very sturdily made and does not bend. 60 percent silver.13 inches long x 6.5 inches wide. ---> 2 large doonbajik diamond-shaped pendants with charm dangles. Excellent condition. Also gilded, with protective red beads. Traditionally, doonbajik pendants were used as elaborate clasps and garment closures. These old doonbajiks still have the hook and loop even after so many years. 70 percent silver. 8 inches long x 4.75 inches wide each. ---> 1 long Tekaki hair-pendant, with sturdy triangle and long charm-dangles. Upper part is an ornate hook for securing in place. Gilded with red beads. Script on back. Excellent condition. 70 percent silver. 9.25 inches long x 3.5 inches wide. ---> 2 long bilezik cuff-bracelets with 3 bands (qoshmahs), each with gilded designs and red beads. Distinctive Turkmen "fanged" backs for holding the cuffs in place. Bilezik cuffs were usually worn in pairs over garment sleeves, so the wrist gaps are sometimes wider than usual cuffs. These are sturdy cuffs, and do not bend. 50 percent silver. Slightly tapered, small wrist with 6.5 inch circumference, including narrow 1-1/8 inch gap. 2.25 inside diameter. ---> 1 large, round, silver button with gold-gild and red beads. 90 percent silver. 1.5 inch diameter. To show relative size, I placed the large gonjik on an unfinished neck-cord to photograph as a necklace on a manikin.
