Description: MIRO, JoanA first edition, original lithograph reproduction of The Harlequin’s Carnival (1924-1925). This offset lithograph was published in 1941. Limited edition of 8000; unnumbered. First edition. The work is framed and glazed. Hardwood frame, of period; bearing the Parsonage Studio crown stamp. DescriptionThe original work was finished in 1925. This edition of 8000 was compiled in the run up to Miro’s 1948 exhibition. The Harlequin’s Carnival is perhaps the most recognised of Miro’s works, executed during the most productive period of his career. Frame worked on at Parsonage Studio, crown stamped to verso thus. The lithograph is presented in a complementing Parisian green frame. The hardwood frame endows the whole piece with special appearance and feel. Miro’s genius (in part) was the credibility he gave to his ideographic, part symbols and forms. Miro held the balance of form and sense with perfect assurance. Which is visible on even the largest of his works, as is here. A superb example of his modernist perfection. The condition is near fine or better. Excepting some patina to the extremities of frame. The lithograph retains full colour and is without foxing.Approx. measurement: 23x15cm inner, 35x24cm outer.
