The figural PARROT has modeling, decorating, and glaze that are very well done in a lemon yellow monochrome. The makers mark of “MINTONS ENGLAND” is in raised relief in a plaque on the glazed recessed bottom. The rimfoot is unglazed. Dimensions (in inches): 8.4 Tall X 3.0 Wide X 4.8 Deep Weight 1 Lbs., 7.6 Oz. The estimated date is Victorian Period. circa 1895*. This MINTONS ENGLAND MAJOLICA PARROT ON PLINTH- LEMON YELLOW is in very good condition. Condition status includes minimal normal wear and rubbing, typical crazing, minor glaze losses, firing flaws, and fretting. Overall, this work is sound, having no chips, cracks, or major defects, and having had no apparent repairs or restorations. It is noted that old majolica is not inherently "perfect" - pieces were still mold formed in this era and as such have marks like little dents in the pottery which are glazed over.
