Description: Minimalism and After: Tradition and Tendencies of Minimalism from 1950 to the Present. Published by Hatje Cantz in 2010, text by Renate Wiehager, Nadine Brüggebors, Claudia Kleinbub, Friederike Nymphius, Rudolf Scheutle and Claudia Seidel. Hardcover without dust jacket as published, 632 pages with 838 illustrations, 672 in color. With text in German and English, this work surveys "100 years of the abstract avant-garde seen through the eyes of the Daimler Art Collection" (from p. 95). From the back cover: "In the Autumn of 2000 an exhibition titled Minimalism and After was conceived for the Daimler Art Collection as one of the focal points of its long-term acquisition planning. The aim was to position formally reduced visual concepts and geometric abstraction as artistic phenomena alongside classic Minimal Art and to no longer regard developments in Europe and America as strictly separate. This expanded and revised edition of the 2006 original publication features forty additional artists, presenting approximately 500 works by 190 artists in in-depth monographs, and an essay summarizing the century-long development of abstract art from Adolf Hözel's 1906 class at the Stuttgart Academy to the present." The interior is very good: clean with no writing, discoloration, odor or damage aside from what is noted below. The exterior is about good: front, back and spine are clean with faint scuffs and scratches; light bumps to corners, top of spine and board edges; slight wear at corners; binding is solid but slightly cocked; bottom left front corner is significantly bumped, which has created wrinkles at bottom page corners near spine - noticeable but small, they fade to nothing after about 30 pages.
