There are some minor spots of dirt on the surface of the watercolor, due to the old age. Otherwise fine. The original salon frame has minor scratches due to the age. Mimi Bille (1868) Listed Norwegian Watercolorist. Full name: Marie Nielsine Bille. Nicknamed “ Mimi “ Born in Christiania, (now Oslo), Norway in 1868. Unmarried. Educated at the Drawing School for Women in Copenhagen. Mimi Bille belonged to the female pioneer artist generation, who at the time were not allowed to study at the Royal Academy and thus studied privately and abroad and was mostly anonymous until recent times. She is registered in the Slygbom art encyclopedia, but not much is known about her life. She travelled with other female artists to Italy where they resided and painted in Nizza, Alassio and Rome.
