Description: Nice real photo postcard. Card is titled (at bottom) "Pres. Shanklin starting to meet Pres. Taft. Nov. 12th, 1909, Middletown Conn." William Shanklin was being inaugurated as president of Wesleyan. He had met Taft previously, and Taft had promised to speak at the ceremony. We think that's Shanklin in the convertible, parked in front of the Frank B. Weeks home on Union Street. Card is postally unused with AZO stamp box; light soiling front and back, lightly bumped corners.
