Description: Mid Century Modern Painting City Scape New York Abstract Cubism. Awesome mcm abstract cityscape. This picture measures approximately 17” x 20” to ends of frame. The painting is a watercolor on heavy paper framed under glass. It was reframed in 1987 (see pic). The bill was for framing and matting. The picture itself is older. To me it screams 1950s. The artist had a well trained hand which you can see in the confidence of the brush strokes and the bold use of color. Depicted is an abstract view of city row houses with laundry lines and tv antenna on roof tops which every house would have had in the 50’s. This would have been a pretty cutting edge image at that time. The artwork was evidently displayed in a doctor’s office which explains the excellent condition ie no smoke or grease residue.
