Microace a0327 set(3), JNR Steam Locomotive 9600/snow plow, n scale, USA ship

Description: the JNR class 9600 steam locomotive was produced primarily by kawasaki heavy industries from 1913 thru the late 1920s; the "kunroku" - old man mountain - as it was nicknamed was the first japanese mass produced locomotive....828 locomotives were produced and used exclusively in freight service, having a top operating speed of 65 kph. a few 9600s continued to be utilized in special circumstances into the 1960s.......most were supplanted with the arrival of the ubiquitous d51 in the 1930s.....the ki900 snow plow was a mcrae type plow first built in japan in 1928 as the ki500.....15 ki900 were first constructed in the 1940s and updated in the early 1960s by various in house JNR factories.....the ki916 was a product of the nagaoka marshaling yard, had a maximum operating speed as towed of 65 kph, and weighed 20 tons....the ki900 plows operated with extended wings, dragging the snow toward the centerline of the track where the companion rotary plows (ki600s), pushed by another locomotive would throw the snow away form the roadbed.....the ki900 series was obsoleted in the mid 1970s.....the yo3500 series brake van was constructed in the early 1950s with a top operating speed of 75 kph.....1345 wagons were built primarily by nippon sharyo ltd........... Micro Ace is one of the dominant triumvirate of n scale manufactures in Japan - Kato and Tomix both being better known outside of Japan....Micro Ace clearly markets the broadest line of locomotives among the 3 and arguably features the finest detail work on their products. i acquired this model from a large online reseller in japan who declines to offer detailed evaluations of model railroading items........upon arrival, the set appeared pristine; the outer box was relatively unblemished.....the inner jewel cases were unsullied and the models appeared comparatively little used........the locomotive test run revealed 23% on the rheostat for n scale factored running speed and smooth, consistent operation considering the motor technology extant on this set's release, 16 years ago.........the head lamp was comparatively vibrant considering the pre chip led technology.......the tail lamps at each end on the brake van are also operational.......the only accessory, a rapido coupler for the front end of the locomotive is present; instructions for its installation are minimal.........the model does include detailed instructions in japanese with pictures for proper arrangement of the plow operations........note the 2 small foam squares cushioning the plow wings which require removal before operation.....
