Description: Michelangelo: Painting, Sculpture, Drawing (Three volumes in slipcase) by Frederick Hartt 1964-69 Harry N. Abrams (New York), three 9 7/8 x 13 1/8 inches tall grey and orange cloth hardcovers in publisher's unclipped dust jackets, gilt and silver design and lettering to front covers and spines, copiously illustrated with black-and-white and color photographs and reproductions of artwork (some tipped in), 162, 310, 408 pp. Very slight rubbing and edgewear to covers. Otherwise, a very good to near fine set - clean, bright and unmarked - in slightly soiled, rubbed and edgeworn dust jackets, housed in a slipcase which is a bit soiled, scuffed and edgeworn, but otherwise quite solid. Altogether, an excellent set of this scarce compilation. Frederick Hartt's Michelangelo trilogy is a set of three volumes that cover the artist's paintings, sculptures, and drawings. Frederick Hartt (1914-1991) was an Italian Renaissance scholar, author and professor of art history. In addition to authoring several books, he was also involved with cataloging and repatriating artwork looted and stolen by the Third Reich during World War II.
