It has been described as depraved, irreligious, profane and obscene and resulted in a record number of complaints from viewers when the BBC aired the production throughout the UK last January. Why such a subject? Composer and co-author Richard Thomas said of the original Jerry Springer Show, "It's got tragedy. It's got violence. There are people screaming at each other and you can't understand what they're saying. It's perfect for opera." And he was right! The musical's main character is JERRY SPRINGER (played by MICHAEL BRANDON), the American talk-show host who after interviewing a diaper-fetishist, a transexual and an aspiring stripper and following a snappy dance number from the Ku Klux Klan, is shot and sent to hell to interview Satan, Jesus and Adam & Eve as if his life depends on it. Others in the cast included DAVID BEDELLA, ALISON JIEAR, WILLS MORGAN, LEON CRAIG, CARRIE ELLIS, CHRISTOPHER KEY, RYAN MOLLOY, CLAIRE PLATT and BENJAMIN LAKE ..... DETAILS: The brand new, official "Jerry Springer Opera" mouse pad measures 9 1/4" X 7 7/8" inches and comes in a sealed sleeve. The section of genuine "Jerry Springer, the Opera" toilet tissue (both shown in the scanned image) is twenty-four inches long. The toilet tissue, which was never available for sale to the general public is imprinted with musical notes and the line "That was your Jerry Springer moment" from one of the show's best musical numbers; "This is our Jerry Springer moment!" sung by the chorus. "We don't want this moment to end, so dip us in chocolate and throw us to the lesbians. We don't want this moment to die." ..... CONDITION: This set is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or fan of "THE JERRY SPRINGER SHOW".
