Be sure to add me to your favorites list!This listing is for a vintage Meyer mouthpiece for tenor saxophone. It is an early version, with the "New York, USA" stamp on the shank. These had the same deeply scooped inner side walls as the earlier Meyer Bros. pieces, but the body is much thinner, making them more resonant. This one is a 5M with a medium chamber. The tip opening is pretty close, measuring in at .067". Paired with a moderately stiff reed, this is a fantastic player! This mouthpiece previously had a contact microphone installed on it. This type of microphone was common at one point, but is seldom used these days. It necessitates drilling a hole in the mouthpiece for a port that the mic plugs into. I removed the port, sealed the hole with a black acrylic material, and smoothed it to match the contour of the mouthpiece. It is barely visible now (see the outline of the circle in the last picture). The mouthpiece is now functionally as good as new. Aside from the aforementioned modification, this mouthpiece is in excellent condition. The facing is perfectly smooth, and original. There are no tooth indentations on the beak. There are no cracks, chips, or other damage. The rubber is black and shiny. There is some scratching on the exterior, but it isn't too noticeable. This mouthpiece has been cleaned/sanitized, so it is ready to use. It comes with its original ligature, also in excellent shape. It is not cracked or bent out of shape, and the screws work properly.
