Description: This beautifully crafted set of Mexican/Aztec hand-carved stone chess pieces is a must-have for any chess enthusiast. The complete set comes with 32 black and white/tan pieces and a wooden board/storage box. The pieces are intricately carved with detailed designs and made of high-quality stone. There is some natural scratching and chipping inherent to the carved stone. The kings are just under 4” tall. I can see one black pawn that appears to have been glued and one black horse head that has been glued. The repairs are done pretty well. The board has a fair amount of scratching which could probably be refinished. The pieces are just stored in felt inside the single compartment hinged box. The set was manufactured in Mexico, adding to its unique and authentic design. Two pieces still have their Hecho en Mexico stickers and the box is stamped “made in Mexico.” It is perfect for collectors or anyone who appreciates the beauty and artistry of hand-carved stone.
