NOT inscribed to anyone, simply and boldly SIGNED with additional writing by the great Alice Walker! A First American Edition/Early Printing with "C D E" clearly stated on the copyright page. Please remember this is NOT the First Edition/First Printing of this title! This is an Early Printing of the First Edition, an important distinction to remember. A TRUE First/First will have "First edition" clearly stated on the copyright page and the letters "B C D E". Based on all our research, we believe this is the Third Printing of the First Edition but there appears to be some debate pertaining to the bibliographical info that is currently available. For that reason, and to avoid any confusion, we are simply describing/classifying this copy as an Early Printing. If interested, we do have a True First/First of this title currently up for sale. This rare treasure has some very clearly visible wear, but is still in lovely, Highly Collectible condition! The book appears gently read and other than a previous owner name, written in pen and located on the front paste down/inside front board, has no internal writing, no foxing, no remainder marks, no missing or ripped pages and is NOT Ex-Libris or a BCE. The binding is holding tight and the pages are still surprisingly crisp and clean! Some general/shelf wear along with creases/marks/wear to the spine/corners/cloth boards, particularly noticeable near/along the edges and marks/wear to the edge/fore pages, NOT affecting the text! As mentioned before, there is a previous owner name, written in pen and located on the front paste down/inside front board. The writing/page was closely photographed for your consideration. Please note the wear to the spine/corners/cloth boards which is particularly noticeable near/along the edges, and the marks/wear that is present on the edge/fore pages! While not terribly egregious, the wear is still very clearly visible and should be carefully examined/considered. The original dust jacket is fully intact and NOT price-clipped but has considerable wear! Some general/shelf wear along with creases, scuffing, rips and marks. There are also some marks and small pieces of clear tape present on the inside of the dust jacket! Please note the wear on the spine, at the corners and near/along the edges! In particular, please note the numerous rips which has resulted in some loss of paper! We purposely and closely photographed what we consider to be the most obvious and egregious wear. The wear is VERY clearly visible and should be carefully examined/considered. We tend to grade the condition of our books rather harshly and took into consideration any and all wear when determining the value of this RARE book.
