A disproportionate number of switch-on cycles leads to premature sticking of the relay contacts. This means the relay no longer functions. The result is a constant current on the compressor. Increased running noise of the compressor is often caused by a suspension that is no longer functioning. Be sure to also change the suspension rubbers and springs. 2. A porous intake hose is often the cause of compressor failure. Change this and, if possible, the filter/silencer at the same time. We don’t want the new compressor to fail prematurely for this reason. 3. Replace the operating relay before installing the compressor, even if it still appears to be functional. This is also a mandatory requirement of the car manufacturer. Make sure you are changing the correct relay. Relays are similar. There is a high risk of changing the wrong relay. 4. After the repair, make sure that the system is absolutely leak-proof. The easiest way to determine this is to park the vehicle and wait for the system to automatically adjust (if your vehicle has this feature). Measure and note down all heights that are air-assisted, from the ground to the bottom edge of the fender. Check and compare these heights the next day. Even a small deviation in the distances will cause damage to the compressor and the valves in the long term. If you have been driving with a leaky chassis for some time, it is likely that the compressor is running more often than normal.
