Description: Let me tell you a story. For years I had a friend. We'll call him the Doctor for that was what he was before he retired. We met every morning for coffee. I spent most holidays with him and his wife. A real pal, and a more straightforward, honest and trustworthy guy would be hard to imagine. He traveled a lot and he once told me about the time he was working in Hong Kong for a while. He had always wanted a vicuna overcoat, so he went to a well-regarded Hong Kong tailor, Ken Tiger, got measured up, and had a vicuna overcoat hand-made for him. Tragically, the Doctor became ill and died a couple of years ago. I made myself as available as possible to help and support his widow, and by way of thanks she wanted to give me a few of the Doctor's things. Generously, she presented me with a case of French wine from his cellar, a superb bottle of Scotch, and his vicuna coat. I have kept it safely and worn it perhaps three or four times. It's time for someone else to have it, to wear it, and admire it. There is no label in the coat apart from Ken Tiger's label, so I've done what I can to authenticate its "vicunaness". Apart from the word of the Doctor, and some subjective things like the softness of it and it being a lot lighter weight than you'd expect, I understand that the length of the fibers is important. Anything over 1.5" and up to 6" in length is a dead give-away that it's not vicuna, which has fibers that are consistently and reliably 1" long. I have pulled out about a dozen hairs from all over the coat and every single one of them has been precisely 1". It's vicuna! Size: From collar to hem is 44". Pit to pit is 22.5". Across the shoulders from seam to seam is 19". The sleeves, from top seam to cuff is 25.5". The vent at the back is 17". The coat looks to be extremely well made. There are two inside pockets as well as the two outside. Three spare buttons are provided. This is a spectacular overcoat - elegant and luxurious - and absolutely cannot be beat for the price.
