Description: OOTED & READY TO PLANT Medjool Female Off-Shoot An Off-Shoot will cultivate Medjool Dates in approx. 3-4 Years. Females produce dates & male offshoots will only produce pollen.The Off-Shoot is extracted from the parent and is cut in half from the fronds and tied up. Over 3 feet of branches is cut from the top so it appears smaller. They are to be kept tied up and the outer layer of branches which was cut will wilt and act as a shield from the sun. New growth will sprout from the middle and the rope can be untied once the upper half is fully grown.Sand-based soil, like sandy loam, provides the best earth environment for spreading palm roots because palms do not like compacted soils with few air pockets, such as clay. Major Steps:Prepare a 50/50 mix of sand and soil and fill the area with this mix before digging a 12 inch hole and planting the palm. Make sure you leave some trunk above the ground. Dig a donut shaped hole around the palm for flooding.Do not trim any dead branches, as they act as a shield from the sun. Keep it tied up until the fronds sprout. Flood the palms every other day or once completely dry and drained.
