It represents the arms of the Knights of the Round Table : Sir Gawaine, Lancelot, Hector, Perceval, Bors and Galahad. The original is in the Birmingham Museum. Dimensions of the tapestry: 28" x 44". As the knights are fictional characters, they have not been granted actual coats-of-arms, so William Morris attributed devices to them from literary sources and designed the shields seen here.
