Description: McIntosh MC2105 Stereo Power Amplifier One of the very highly regarded first solid state amplifiers that McIntosh built at its plant in Binghamton, NY starting in the late 60's. This amplifier puts out 105 watts per channel into 2Ω, 4Ω, 8Ω, 16Ω impedance loads. The autoformers allowed for the amp to play any combination for each channel independently due to its design. Though the specs state that the amp is good for 105 WPC, it will put out much closer to 150 WPC. This amp has great impact and slam in the lower registers due to the low damping factor. Each channel has independent gain adjustment knobs for tailoring in the right levels for different sources having differing output voltages. This amp is heavy, weighing in at almost 70 pounds, amplifier alone. Almost 90 pounds if it is in the wooden case. So expect the total package weight to be over 100 pounds. Most likely in the 110-115 pound range due to packing material so it can be safely shipped. I will ship the amp using whatever service you would prefer and the package will be insured for peace of mind. The amp was gone through in 2023. All of the electrolytic capacitors were pulled. The two big can caps were replaced with McIntosh brand capacitors that came recommended by their parts department team. All of the parts that were replaced in the amp were ordered directly from McIntosh. The thermistors were replaced. Driver board service bulletin for this era and serial number. It sounds great. I replaced all of the light bulbs with original replacements. I chose not to go LED bulbs. The blue plastic that goes behind the glass for the meters could be replaced in the future. Being the originals that are in it now, they have lost some of the blue color and have faded to more of a teal/blue green. Both meters are calibrated to show the proper dB for the signal that it sees. The polished stainless steel chassis has some light pitting in a few small areas on the inner part of the chassis. (Under where the cage and metal covers go. In front of the big filter can caps and in between the driver boards and the front of the amp.) I imagine this is due to those areas being very hard to reach for cleaning regularly. I just wanted to disclose that and make sure to be transparent. All of the parts that are seen look great though. I included pictures of everything I thought was important. If you would like more pictures or have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me. I will answer any questions you have and can send more detailed and specific photos to you if you're interested in seeing more. This is an awesome amplifier. It is built like a tank. They seriously don't build stuff like this anymore. The glass faceplate with the big blue VU meters. All of the chrome chassis. The wooden case. Don't miss your chance to own a piece of audio history that was built right here in the USA!
