Description: Naive folk art oil painting on board titled "Shack in the Valley" by Maud (or Maude) Louise Gotch, who always signed her paintings simply "Maud Louise." Painted sometime in the late 1950's. VG condition with some scuffing on the painting. The frame has scuffing, scratches and wear. The frame was painted gold at some point and paint was transferred to the picture at the edges. Maud Louise Gotch (1899-1988) lived her entire life in rural Pennsylvania. It's not known when she took up painting, but all of the examples I have are dated ca. 1955-1965.
