Description: I have for sale a 1919 award medal from the Massachusetts Horticultural Society that was struck at the U.S. mint. This medal is bronze, it is two inches in diameter and its in a high grade, slightly, circulated condition. This U.S. Mint medal is listed in the Julian catalog as AM-42. The obverse shows two women, one standing and one seated and they are holding grapes and flowers. The reverse at the rim reads MASSACHUSETTS HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY. There is a wreath that shows the United States & Massachusetts shields. Engraved inside the wreath, it reads, AWARDED TO - JOHN SCULLY - FOR - EXCELLENCE - IN GARDENING - 1919.
