It produces a versatile sound decor that covers everything from solid lift work to bluesy solos, depending on the setting. The primary feature of the PARANOID is the PIG, a controller for accentuation. With the PIG set to MAX, you get the classic SABBATH sound, perfect for heavy rock. Turning the knob down breaks up that core sound, and the amount of distortion varies accordingly. Most notably, there is a toggle switch that allows you to switch between three modes. Setting the toggle switch to the middle position allows you to use the mode best suited for heavy sounds, which is the realm of PARANOID, while setting it to the lower position allows you to create modern distortion, which is ideal for No Wave / Post Funk, Post Punk as represented by Fugazi, and Emo, which is a glitchy sound. The toggle switch can also be used to switch to a modern mode that can be used for cutting-oriented sounds such as No Wave / Post Funk, Post Punk (as represented by Fugazi) and Emo. Set the toggle switch to the up position, and you'll get the noisy, bombastic sound that MASF is known for, a literal “riotous sound” that doesn't fit into any existing definition of sound production. Using this mode, the original extreme sound is transformed into a metallic heavy sound with wildly intertwined distortion, which could not be achieved with conventional fuzz.
