The specific demands covered a wide range of areas including open housing, education, transportation, employment and policing practices The Chicago Freedom Movement was the among the most significant organized protests of the entire Civil Rights Movement. It is largely credited with forcing passage of the 1968 Fair Housing Act and federal enforcement of the Civil Rights Act.
