Martha Elizabeth was born May 26, 1880 in Riceville, Iowa and died July 26, 1953 in Burlington, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of Henry Saunders Burns and Mary Emma Bottomely. She married Henry Sheard (1872-1957). Their children included Gwendolyn Sheard (1916-2004), Kenneth Burns Sheard (1919-1920), and Donald Henry Sheard (1919-1983). Measures approximately 4.25 x 6 including mount. Condition: This is an original photograph, not a copy or reproduction. It is in excellent condition. Comments: Henry Saunders Burns was born September 18, 1843 and died April 4, 1884. His parents were Hugh Burns (1816-1871) and Susanna Saunders Burns (1814-1884). Henry’s siblings included Matilda H. Burns (1846-1870), Elizabeth A. Burns Gooder (1848-1907), Robert Burns (1850-1877), Jane Collins Burns Hullett (1852-1912) and Samuel Burns (1854-1878). Henry is buried in Burlington, Wisconsin. His wife was Mary Emma Bottomley. She was born February 19, 1849 in Racine Co., Wisconsin. Her parents were Edwin Bottomley (1809-1850) and Martha Schofoeld Jessop Bottomley (1812-1894). Mary’s siblings included: Hannah Bottomley Hay (1830-1893), Emma Bottomley (1834-1835), Arminal Ann Bottomley (1835-1916), Sarah Bottomley Gooder (1838-1890), Thomas Jessop Bottomley (1840-1918), Selina Bottomley Gooder (1843-1923), and Cecelia Martha Bottomley Sheard (1846-1884). Mary died July 6, 1933, and is buried in Burlington, Wisconsin. The children of Henry Saunders Burns and Mary Emma Bottomley Burns include Cynthia Rebecca Burns Sheard (1867-1927), Amelia Arminal Burns (1869-1956), Matilda Lorena Burns Sheard (1871-1951), Edwin Hugh Burns (1876-1933), Ruth Olive Burns Noble (1878-1926), Martha Elizabeth Burns (1880-1953), and Mary Myrtle Burns (1882-1945). Additional Comments: The photo(s) in this listing were removed from a set of three antique albums originally belonging to Newton Henry Bottomley (1880-1967) and his wife Edna May Hay (1887-1976) who lived in Price, Wisconsin. Many of the other album photos, which are sold separately, were taken in Racine Co. Wisconsin and included Bottomley and related families Sheard, Gooder, Hay, Burns, Skewes, and Hoyt.
