Description: Presented is a superb antique sterling silver double handle pedestal bowl, made by Marshall Fields and dating to the early 1900s. This piece is made in the Colonial pattern, and is numbered 1081. This highly desirable and collectible pattern features a finely hand hammered finish in the Arts & Crafts style, which captures the light dazzlingly when polished to a high finish and takes on patina beautifully with age. This bowl has handles in a striking chevron-ended shape, and stands on a conforming round pedestal foot. One handle has a monogram of EAB in flowing script. This bowl is a good size for use as a sugar bowl, and that may have been its original purpose, but the double handled design makes it look like a porringer or Scottish quaich, though the pedestal foot is atypical for these. This piece is in excellent condition. There are no splits, no dents, no breaks, no monogram removals, and no repairs. This piece is stamped and guaranteed sterling silver as well as the mark for Marshall Fields & Co, the number 1081, and the pattern name, Colonial. The bowl measures about 7 1/8 inches from handle to handle or about 4 1/2 inches in diameter at the rim, and stands about 3 inches tall. This piece weighs 176 grams or 6.2 regular ounces. -jm Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
