Pepitone came out about 15-20 years ago to say that the book was a load of exaggeration that was written to sell copies. Marilyn had trust issues, that has been very well documented. Why would she trust her maid who could barely speak English with her most guarded secrets? If the stories are true, why would Pepitone release this book about someone she considers a dear friend who had such a tragic death? Money and 15 minutes of fame will do that to a person and this book is sadly proof. While I do believe that some things very easily could have happened (Marilyn walking around naked - A LOT), it's hard to distinguish between fact and fiction. Her marriage to A. Miller was rocky, yes, but I don't think she was yelling at him for taking Pepitone away from her for 5 minutes to mend his pants. I would recommend this book to someone who has a solid understanding of Marilyn and has read multiple biographies so that you can distinguish between fact and fiction. While no one can truly capture Marilyn (and those who possibly could have since passed on) it's most likely more accurate than this little book. Great read (you will be enthralled) but most likely 90% false.
