Description: A rare, beautiful Mariano Fortuny ice blue pleated silk two-piece evening ensemble, c. 1920, Made in Italy. In the Delphos style, with batwing sleeve tunic top featuring braided cord detail, over long skirt. Mariano Fortuny (1871-1949), the Spanish artist-designer who worked in Venice, created pleated gowns that have come to be surrounded by myth. The sheath style "Delphos" was derived from the classical Greek chiton. Tunic measures approx. 42" long, skirt approx. 25" waist and 44" long. All measurements taken with garments laying flat. In vintage condition, with musky scent and general wear, including areas of discoloration/fading throughout and some fraying/rough edges and stray thread ends along the inner edges of the fabric (near seams), it may have other minor issues commensurate with age and use, but nothing obvious (like tears, stains, etc.) - see pictures. Inside of tunic top with label "Fabrique en Italie, Fortuny", skirt unmarked. Skirt secures with double hook and three button closure, tunic sleeves each weighted with three hidden discs. Loose cords included. **NO RETURNS - Please ask all questions prior to buying.****NO RETURNS - Please ask all questions prior to buying.** A rare, beautiful Mariano Fortuny ice blue pleated silk two-piece evening ensemble, c. 1920, Made in Italy.
