Description: Name: Fossil Seed Fern Fronds Age: Pennsylvanian Formation: Llewellyn Formation Location: Coal Valley, Schuylkill Co., Pennsylvania Size: Plate is 4.5 inches long! This is a very cool plant fossil. It is a plate of MANY fossil fern fronds from Pennsylvania. This distinct specimen was collected in the 1970's by one collector, who then died with the locality info, and the only lot of this material ever found was in his collection. Many collectors have tried to rediscover this locality, but to no avail. The reason this material is coveted by collectors is the striking color, incredible detail, and sheer number of fronds. At most sites in Pennsylvania, only single frondlets are found - but as you see here, this plate is just COVERED with fronds! This striking fossil has very good natural color and great detail preserved. This is a very nice example of an historic fossil fern frond plate from "Rick's Site, Coal Valley, Schuylkill Co., PA".A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS.com is included with this specimen. Insurance is included in the cost of shipping.Note: International customers may have to pay a duty at Customs - every country's rules are different.
