Description: maestri della tavolozza riproduzioni d'arte ~ su tela, milano - via sibari 11 Books measure 9.25x10, are alike, one in good condition, other has condition problems; both described below. Selling together as 2-book lot, for one price. I find no publication date or publisher although second blank page has 5 lines of copy in Italian which could include publisher. Both books have red stampings of: U.S. Distributor, Replica Paintings, with address and phone number. Book in better condition also has 2 gold, good-sized labels with same information at bottom of title page. Many well-printed, full-color photos; several pages have one photo per page, most pages have 2 good-sized photos per page. All photos have artist and artist date of birth/death, also picture title in 5 languages, including English. Pages are semi-gloss, rather heavy paper. Combined weight of two books is 9 pounds. Covers are brown/grey with yellow artist's board and brushes, red spine covering with large, yellow title. Most of the black marks on front cover over 1 line of copy came off when covers were cleaned, a bit of black remains on both covers; covers also show some light black spots which are probably printing ink since books were purchased from retired N.Y. printer. Both books have lightly toned on the page margins. Leaf edges show some shelf and handling soil. First Book in Better Condition: Top edge of front cover with line of roughness, bottom of front cover with 3 areas of light roughness. Wear at edges of spine heel and head, back cover upper tip has small bump crease. There are few splits between pages with some pages loose including first picture page, book is heavy and has probably been used for photos thus some pages widely opened; some pages still attached but will come loose with wear. All pages are in this book. Two pages with small crease at front margin and several short bump creases at bottom tip. Front cover slants slightly forward. Second Book with Condition Problems: This book has been used much more than above book, several pages, approximately 20, are completely loose in book. I have used above book as guide and placed all loose pages in proper sequence in book. Note that one page is completely missing, it had pictures 850, 864, 865, 870 on it, I had hoped to find this page in above book but page is gone. Also first blank page, title page and 3rd page of book "Formato" are missing. Pages that are loose in book were kept at front of book until I replaced in proper spots and those pages have wear along edges. Slight soil on few pages this book. Book body has pulled loose from spine so when front cover is opened it and the spine covering lay completely flat allowing binding to be a bit weak for still-bound pages. Cover edges and tips with some wear, spine cover split at back edge in 3 areas with 1-2" long splits, short splits at spine front edge and heel and head. Few pages have heavy patch of tape on them, no photo obscured (again, book was printer-used). These books would be great for crafts/collages since you would have two of nearly every color photo in the books.
