Description: Vintage Original Signed Art By REMs: Madonna & Child w/poppies. A similar painting by this artist has been described as "ceramic paint on leather" with origins in Mexico. I cannot attest to the origins or technique of this work, but it is an original work. The signature has been crafted with the same technique as the overall painting which is some kind of a raised line which becomes the outlined edges of the work. The image is crafted from a glossy-seeming lacquer or enamel type paint. The background is rough-feeling (like sandpaper) and maybe it is leather or cork. This was purchased at an estate sale. There is a frame around the work as shown in the photographs. There is a bit of browning and staining on the mat, but this is just part of the frame setup and not of the original work. The original has a tiny bit of wrinkling in the upper left-hand corner, as is shown in the photographs. Please write if you wish further information. The present frame is 22 by 10 inches in size.
