Description: M. KLEIN & SONS Electrician's Knife, 3Blades, VintageVGC: Ah, the ubiquitous electrician's knife. Designed for use by US Army Signal Corps in The Great War, given the inventory title, TL-29, produced by all the American cutlers and copied almost universally by armies around the world. This pattern, in its more civilian eponym, The Electrician's Knife, has been the go-to tool for tradesmen, homeowners, punks, mechanics, and preppers for more than a hundred years. During the 1970s or '80s, the originator of the pattern threw in a new component since their patent had long expired and the trade was out-producing them. M. Klein & Sons designed a third blade! Yes, another tool to make their knife different from, and more-better than the others! Was it a Phillips-head screwdriver to accommodate that type of fastener just as it was coming of age? No. Was it a saw-blade for cutting through plasterboard? No. Was it a flashlight for illuminating dark corners and buss-boxes? No. What else could be a useful tool to an electrician? YES! Another cutting blade! Smaller than the first for cutting smaller things, I suppose. The knife pictured above is one of the new-fangled 3-blade jobs. The blades show use, but not wear. All blades have mild pitting and scuffs from the rough jobs these knives do, but no discoloring or rust; they do have mirror polish. Neither cutting blade has been sharpened and has its full height---lots of years of work are available here. Handles have no marks or chips on them. Brass frame and nickel-steel bolsters are solid and square, springs are intact, giving the blades good walk and talk with half-stops. Liner-lock keeps the screwdriver in check. With springs and blades this thick, the knife will be stiff to open; bring your steroid-augmented thumbnails. Mailing only to USA-48. Postage is usually between $5.00 and $6.26. Buyer pays $4.00, I will pay the rest. Please see my other knives and save postage. I am liquidating my entire collection; please keep me in your favorite sellers, watching for Old Bryan's Old Knives or the seller name below.
