Description: Limited Edition Framed Print “Silent Tribute” Stivers, Picketts Charge, 1863 Gettysburg Description: The art depicts the men of Confederate General Lee’s Pickett’s Division on July 3 1863 at Gettysburg, silently saluting their commanders: Picket, Longstreet and Lee, prior to battle i.e., "Pickett’s Charge". Painted in 1991, and printed in 1992, the original prints are long sold out. You can only find the framed limited edition signed prints on rare occasions on resale markets. This piece has been professionally framed (in Germany) and triple matted with name plate and the art’s back story/specifications sheet. Hanging wire attached so its ready to hang. Artist Biography: Don Stivers (1926-2009) studied at the California College of the Arts in Oakland. His interest in American history and skill at creating photo-realistic artwork led to a series of paintings on the Westward Expansion. His other projects included many intricate depictions of the Civil War and the relatively unexplored subject of the Buffalo Soldiers. Stivers' original paintings are displayed across many U.S. forts, including Belvoir, Wainwright, and the Pentagon, and in public museums and private collections of military art. He worked mainly in oils and tempera and thoroughly researched the background to each of his paintings. Maker’s Mark: signed and numbered lower left 539 / 2500. Dimensions: Print measures 17” by 23” inside the white border. Framed print measure 28½” by 33½”. Mats are 2¾” wide at the side and top, 3¼” wide at the bottom. The wood frame is 2¼” wide and 1½” deep. Condition: The print is EXCELLENT: No obvious flaws. Close to new or in new condition. The frame is VERY GOOD: Shows minor signs of wear mostly from several residential moves but still very attractive.
