Description: Description: A lovely late Victorian solid sterling silver snuff box of rounded rectangular form with curved shaped borders with an all over scroll shaped pattern engraving, with a shield shaped cartouche to the centre with initials, with a protruding thumb piece to the front for opening and is fitted with a hinged lid. The interior is lined with the original gilt. The snuff box is hallmarked to the interior with matching English solid sterling silver hallmarks its an original matching example. It's not engraving with any presentation inscriptions or anything erased. It's an all original matching example. It's from the Queen Victorian period which is of 138 years of age. It's of an excellent pocket size and weighs 43 grams of solid sterling silver. A beautiful example which would make a superb addition to a collection. Makers, Assay office & Date Hallmark: Colen Hewer Cheshire (Registered Oct 1865), Birmingham and 1886 Measurements: Length 6.1 cm, width 3.3 cm and height 1.5 cm Condition report: The exterior is in excellent clean condition with no dents, dings, holes, splits or repairs. The scroll shaped pattern all over decoration is in excellent clean condition with no wear. The interior is in excellent clean condition with only some light surface marks and the odd tiny ding which is not noticeable from the exterior. The hinged lid opens and closes tightly shut with no play. The original gold gilt is in very good condition but has slightly worn with age but is to be expected with age. The hallmarks are all very clear and readable with no rubbing or wear issues. It's a lovely Victorian example in excellent overall condition which is ready to be added to your collection.
