Six-time All-Star, Lou Brock, began his career with the Chicago Cubs in 1961, until joining the St. Louis Cardinals in 1964 for the duration of his career until 1979. After joining the Cardinals, Brock helped lead his team to the 1964 World Series Championship and again in 1967. In the 1967 World Series, Brock batted .414, scored 8 runs and set a World Series Record stealing 7 bases. Brock tied his own record the following year in the 1968 World Series, though they lost to the Detroit Tigers in 7 games. Most notably, Brock became the greatest base stealer since Ty Cobb, breaking Cobb’s all-time career stolen base record in 1977, a record that stood for almost 50 years. In 1974, Brock broke Maury Wills single season stolen base record with 118 stolen bases. Brock led the league in stolen bases for 8 out 9 consecutive seasons. Brock retired in 1979 with a career record of 938 stolen bases, which was only surpassed by Rickey Henderson in 1991. Brock is one of 32 players to join the 3000 hit club milestone with 3023 career hits.
