For her "lasting contribution to children's literature" she received the international Hans Christian Andersen Medal in 1990. Her style is similar to that of English illustrators of the 19th century and she acknowledges being influenced by the work of Arthur Rackham. First US edition thus, 2006, NorthSouth. Six hardcover books in "very good" to "like new" condition -- clean and tight, no writing or tears. "Swan Lake" and "Aesop's Fables" have their djs; the other four do not. Just a bit of edgewear to the illustrated boards and djs. "Stories from the Bible" has a remainder mark on the bottom edge. The "Wizard of Oz" is missing the green glasses in the back.
