Description: This is a lot of 6 opaque nephrite jade slab slices. It comes from a large collection of lapidary materials dating to the 1960s. Some of the material was labeled incorrectly like these. The label says "Jadeite Gem Quality". This is obviously not correct. I believe is it a form of nephrite jade. It has a dark green color and is opaque. The hardness is above 6. The largest piece measures 4.625 x 3.125 inches and is about 1/8 inch thick. The smallest is about 2.5 x 2.5. The thickest piece is .25 inch. The total weight of the lot is 1 pound 4.5 ounces.The last photo is taken in sunlight while wet. one of the smaller pieces has some varnish along one side.
