Description: This is a lot of one "Five Cents" & four "Ten Cents", Series 681, "Military Payment Certificates" that were issued by the United States Government. Pictures are part of the description and will be the items that ship. This was a short-lived Series, 681 was used exclusively in Vietnam and was first issued August 11, 1969. It became obsolete on October 7, 1970. The front of the certificates have the Series 681, the serial number, the sheet position and the Submarine. Color is purple, green and blue. The back has Military Payment Certificate and Spacewalker. Buy Happy! Military Payment Certificates were used from 1946 until 1973. All United States servicemen, government civilian employees and citizens employed by US firms doing business under government contracts were paid in Military Payment Certificates. They were also prohibited from holding any normal United States Currency of any type. In the 28-year history of the “Military Payment Certificates” there were 13 series issued. They say 14,112,000 of these were delivered. The local population was prohibited from holding Military Payment Certificates as a control on the “Black Market”. However, many pieces of it still reached the locals. When it was determined that there was an excessive amount, the old series would be withdrawn and a new series issued. These were called "C-Days" and they were unannounced. Personnel would be restricted to the base and the exchange of old for new notes would take place. After the "C-Day" the old notes would be worthless.
