Description: This NGC-certified coin from the ancient city of Lastigi is an extreme rarity with few known. It was minted between 150BC-100BC. The Tartessii or Tartessians were a pre-Roman Iberian people inhabiting the southwes of the Iberian peninsula. They occupied the southern Portugal and western Andalusia, in present-day provinces of Cádiz, Huelva and Seville, around the Tartesso River, known as Baetis in Latin and Guadalquivir in Arabic. Lastigi is mentioned by Pliny the Elder in his Natural History as lying on the Menoba River (Guadiamar) near the towns of Laelia and Olontigi. Its exact location has been debated by historians since the 19th century. The mint issued three series of bronze coins (asses, semisses, quadrantes and sextantes) in the second half of the 2nd century BC. NGC certifies most US, world, and ancient coins, tokens, and medals. The certification process consists of authentication, grading, attribution, and encapsulation in plastic holders or Coin slabs. NGC certification offers significant protection against counterfeiting, misattribution, overgrading, and damage. This ancient coin is a must-have for collectors who appreciate historically rare coins. 20376
