Description: Born in 1923, Loretta Cain was a prominent New Mexico artist. She painted for nearly 70 years until she became blind. She also owned an art gallery in the 1960s and 1970s. In 1995, Cain moved to Silver City and opened another art gallery. Cain painted in the Impressionist style and used many colors in her works. Her subject matter was often Landscapes and scenes of everyday life in New Mexico. In this gorgeous rendering of trees lining a body of water, Cain has used a bright color palette to paint a yellow sky and green-blue leaves. Color tends to be the focus of Cain's works. This painting is framed and measures 27"x23."
