Sadler, K.C.S.I., edited by his daughter The Hon. Mrs. Adrian Grant Duff, with a frontispiece portrait of Sir John Lubbock, from a drawing by George Richmond, R.A., 1867. It was published by Watts & Co., of London, and appears to be the 1934 (date of title page) FIRST EDITION. Essays by eminent people about John Lubbock (1834-1913) was known as Sir John Lubbock from 1856-1900, and as Lord Avebury from 1900 until his death. He made significant contributions in archaeology, ethnography, and several branches of biology. He coined the terms "Paleolithic" and "Neolithic" to denote the Old and New Stone Ages, respectively. In the mid-1890’s George Routledge published his top 100 recommendations the “Sir John Lubbock’s Hundred Books” series. The book measures 7.5 inches x 5 inches and has 261 pages. The book is in good, neat condition for its age, with minor wear/bumps with a faded spine to the original cloth hardback cover, and a little foxing mostly near the covers/rims. There are NO inscriptions/book-plates and NO other ink or pencil markings in the book. The binding is good with no loose or missing pages. There is no dust-jacket. A wonderful vintage FIRST EDITION.
