Description: This is an amazing, vintage Afghan multi-strand necklace (chandahaar) that was handmade in the mid-1900's for the nomadic Kuchi tribe along the old Silk Road of Central Asia. The description and disclaimer below are helpful to learn about this beautiful piece. More measurements are listed at the very end. It has 9 graduated-strands of chain accented with charms. The uppermost chain has a generous fringe of long charms, along with 3 beaded-flowers. The strands are gathered together near the back by triangular ends and new ties. Vibrantly colorful extend along center, with a traditional Kashmiri pendant hanging below. The pendant's shape is that of a stylized bird-in-flight. It has incised designs, colorful beads, and boteh charm-dangles. Boteh are a good-luck amulet here, with a shape that resembles a mango. It has a rich age patina and mild wear patterns. General Disclaimer for all tribal-jewelry I sell here: As with most old tribal pieces, some of the dangles/charms/beads may be missing, replaced, damaged, or refurbished, along with other flaws, defects, and/or debris. Please note that age-patina reflects the light when photographed, so items may look brighter in images than they really are. Sold as-is. Not appropriate for children.
