Description: From a Catalina Foothills estate in Tucson is this exceedingly attractive pair of I believe 1980's or so Navajo silver concha dangle clip earrings - Lloyd Nelson beauties from his time at Kevin and Lani Randall's Rocking Horse Ranch. The Randalls employed some of the best contemporary southwestern tribal silversmiths during the last quarter of the 20th Century, and anything sporting the instantly recognizable Rocking Horse mark is always top quality. In this case Lloyd's skillfully wrought scalloped domed center mini concha suspenders and large pendant conches showcase strong old style stamp work, with nice spiderweb turquoise sets to the center of each pendant adding just the right amount of pizazz. There is a clear and referenced "L. NELSON / Sterling / (Rocking Horse Ranch logo)" struck to the back of both pendant ornaments. Please compare these to the vast run of more recent offerings here in the southwest, even by competent artisans - I think you will get the idea. Weight is very good for the form at about 14.6 total grams on my portable digital scale. Condition is quite fine with an aura of time to the silver and a great look. Be aware I have avoided any urge to refresh away or "improve" upon any natural toning on Lloyd's original surfaces - you want that done you do it. . Those turquoise sets are well preserved and the original trader supplied clip fittings work exactly as they should. The suspender loop on one concha dangle has a very (I mean very) slight cant which has no bearing on wearing and I believe is as made - that said, I'm mentioning simply so you won't. All normal and expected minor signs off previous service simply validate a history. A look at the pics should give a good idea of appearance and condition. Size is about 2 11/32 in. (think 2 3/8 in.) vertical on the dangle. The pendant conchas are about 1 1/4 in. vertical not including the loop and 1 1/16 in. across - so yes, they will definitely be noticed.
